Yokohama FC are returning to the Meiji Yasuda J1 League in 2023, sealing second place in J2 this season after going five points up on third place with only one match to play.
Yokohama’s rise was paced by Koki Ogawa, whose 24 goals lead J2 by an astonishing eight tallies. He’s been the most ruthless finisher in the division and promotion is due in large part due to his spectacular play.
Yokohama were in the top flight in 2020 and 2021, suffering relegation a year ago. It only took them a year to jump back up, though, and now they will be back in J1 for a fourth season in their history.
