The draw for the 2021 J.LEAGUE YBC Levain CUP Prime Stage was carried out this Thursday, with an Osaka Derby headlining the four quarter-final ties.
Gamba Osaka and Cerezo Osaka were drawn together in a matchup of crosstown rivals and former competition winners, with Gamba crowned champions in 2007 and 2014, while Cerezo took home the J.League Cup in 2017.
Elsewhere, MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE defending champions and league leaders Kawasaki Frontale will look for more silverware as they do battle with two-time winners Urawa Reds.
F.C.Tokyo and Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo will fly between the capital and the north for a pair of matches, while the competition’s most successful team, Kashima Antlers, continue on their quest for a seventh title against Nagoya Grampus.
The first leg of these quarter-final ties will be played on Wednesday, September 1st, with the second leg to follow on Sunday, September 5th.
