Mateus’s spectacular long-distance strike to win Nagoya Grampus’ Matchweek 26 contest has been named KONAMI Goal of the Month for August. The Brazilian picked up the ball from 30 yards, turned and hit a rocket into the top corner for a majestic goal and a 1-0 win over Júbilo Iwata.

Goal of the Month in J2 went to Renofa Yamaguchi’s Wataru Tanaka for his Matchweek 32 goal that, like Mateus, handed his team a 1-0 win.

Tanaka’s goal came from his own half, with the midfielder spotting the goalkeeper off his line and blasting a shot that traveled more than half field before nestling into the net for a spectacular winner.

In J3, the top goal was scored by Iwaki FC’s Shota Suzuki as the second goal of three in his team’s 3-0 win over Fujieda MYFC.
