Léo Ceará put together one of the best months in recent memory in July, helping Yokohama F·Marinos solidify their position atop the Meiji Yasuda J1 League table and earning him KONAMI Monthly MVP honors.
Léo Ceará had six goals and an assist in July, helping the Tricolor to an undefeated month. Marinos won three games and drew two in that time and they could not have done it without the Brazilian. He had two goals and two assists in a 4-0 win over Kashiwa Reysol, then three goals and an assist in a 5-3 win over Shimizu S-Pulse, involving him in the goals the Tricolor needed for victory.
Marinos have now won consecutive KONAMI Monthly MVP honors, with Kota Mizunuma earning the award in June.
The KONAMI Monthly MVP for July in J2 was awarded to V-Varen Nagasaki’s Edigar Junio. The Brazilian scored six goals in six July games, helping his club to three wins and three draws that have them in one of the promotion play-off places.
Fujieda MYFC’s Tojiro Kubo was named J3’s KONAMI Monthly MVP. His play from the right of midfield was crucial to his club’s perfect July, with two goals and two assists leading the way to five wins from five games in the month.
