Another week, another hat trick by a Yokohama F·Marinos forward voted as the Performance of the Week by the J.LEAGUE’s international fans.
On Matchweek 24, it was Daizen Maeda who scored three goals and garnered top weekly honors. Last weekend, it was Léo Ceará’s turn for a hat trick and Top Performance recognition.
The Brazilian showed off all his skills to notch his hat trick. First, he demonstrated his aerial prowess by beating a defender and the goalkeeper to a header. His great ball-striking was on display next, as he buried a 20-yard shot in the top corner. Finally, his timing and pace took center stage as he ran in behind the defense before coolly finishing to complete the hat trick in Marinos’ 5-0 win over Vegalta Sendai.
Marinos are locked in a title fight with Kawasaki Frontale so there is extra pressure in every match the two teams play. Léo Ceará showed he was up to it and then some with his terrific performance, and the fans recognized it.
Voting for Performance of the Week was done by fans on the J.LEAGUE English-language Twitter account, which can be followed here.
