J.League Top Scorer Watch: Ryo Germain stays on top as Miyashiro edges closer

It was a quiet week for the top goal scorers in the Meiji Yasuda J1 League. None of the top seven entertaining Matchweek 5 found the back of the net, leaving Ryo Germain still in first place with five goals on the campaign.

There was a new entrant to the fight, with Taisei Miyashiro scoring twice in Vissel Kobe’s 6-1 win over Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo to put him on three goals for the season. That has the 23-year-old in a six-way tie for third place on the goal scoring chart.

Sandwiched between Germain at the top and the six players in third place is Ryotaro Araki, who has four goals on the year. The FC Tokyo man has been superb as he looks to put two difficult injury-plagued seasons behind him and, at just 22 years old, he is looking like one of the J.League’s brightest young talents once again.
