J.League match schedule released ahead of massive 2024 season

The fixture list for the 2024 J.League season is here, with the match schedule for J1, J2, J3, and the opening stage of the J.League YBC Levain Cup released on Tuesday.

The newly-expanded, 20-team Meiji Yasuda J1 League kicks off on Friday, February 23rd with a special doubleheader.

Sanfrecce Hiroshima will take on Urawa Reds to open the season at the brand-new Edion Peace Wing Hiroshima before Nagoya Grampus host Kashima Antlers in a rematch of the 1993 inaugural season opener.

The next day, reigning champions Vissel Kobe will begin their title defense at Júbilo Iwata, a club that is back in the first division after promotion last year.

On Sunday, last year’s runners up Yokohama F·Marinos will also take on a newly-promoted side in their opening contest. The Tricolor will make the short trip to Tokyo Verdy, who are returning to J1 for the first time in a decade and a half.

These are just some of the exciting fixtures that will define the 2024 opening weekend.
