Takashi Usami was magnificent in June, leading Gamba Osaka right into the thick of the title race, and that phenomenal run of matches has earned the forward Konami Monthly MVP honors.
Usami kicked off June with a two-goal performance in a 2-1 win over Shonan Bellmare. He added another goal the next week in another 2-1 victory. He scored one more goal in June, netting on the final day of the month against first place FC Machida Zelvia.
Gamba have been excellent all season and they finished June in third place before moving into second early in July. Usami has been at the forefront of the Suita side’s surge, leading the team in scoring and wearing the armband as they chase their first J1 title since 2014.
Akito Fukumori took home Konami Monthly MVP in J2 as he added offensive output to his defensive solidity for Yokohama FC. Fukumori had one goal and four assists in June, leading the Fulie to a perfect five wins from five matches as his backline allowed just two goals all month.
Arthur Silva earned the top prize in J3 for his stellar month. The midfielder continued his steady play in the middle of the pitch while also adding five goals to lead Omiya Ardija to an undefeated June.
