J.League Top Scorer Watch: Léo Ceará takes over top spot

Léo Ceará is the new top scorer in the Meiji Yasuda J1 League after the Brazilian scored his ninth goal in as many matches for his 12th on the season.

The Cerezo Osaka man scored the Sakura’s opening goal to lead his team to a 3-0 win over Avispa Fukuoka.

Léo Ceará has arguably been the league's most prolific attacking player for the better part of two months and he’s showing no signs of slowing down.

Ryo Germain, who had been atop the scoring chart since Matchweek 2, failed to score for Júbilo Iwata and is now in second with 11 goals.

Five players are tied for third place as Yuma Suzuki, Thiago Santana, Taisei Miyashiro, Yuki Ohashi and Marcelo Ryan all went scoreless in Matchweek 15 to remain on seven goals each.
