Suita Stadium to host Emperor's Cup Final

The Japan Football Association on Thursday announced that Suita Stadium will host the final of the 96th Emperor’s Cup.

Gamba Osaka’s groundbreaking new 40,000 capacity stadium was opened last October and now has the honour of showcasing the showpiece final.

It will be the first time since 1960 that the match has been held in Osaka since 1960, and the first time since 1964 that the match takes place in the Kansai region.

The tournament’s climax will take place on January 1, 2017, with a kickoff time to be announced on a later date.
