Avispa Fukuoka were perfect in July with two wins from two matches and that earned Shigetoshi Hasebe Manager of the Month honors.
Avi’s two wins took them from 12th place up to the top half of the table. They beat Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo, 2-1, before upending Shonan Bellmare, 1-0.
Hasebe has guided a terrific run of form in Fukuoka, whose two wins in July are part of an on-going five-match win streak. That streak followed up a seven-match winless streak, proving Hasebe’s ability to keep the dressing room positive and make the tactical changes necessary to turn things around.
In J2, Manager of the Month was awarded to Iwaki FC’s Yuzo Tamura. He led Iwaki to three wins and a draw in five July matches, taking them from the relegation zone up to safety. Tamura’s side has a pair of shutouts, showing off defensive improvement, and also won a 4-3 thriller, exhibiting their ability to shine going forward.
Manager of the Month in J3 was given to Ehime FC’s Kiyotaka Ishimaru, who oversaw an undefeated five matches. Ehime won three matches and added two draws in July, taking them to the top of the table.
