Kashima Antlers on Tuesday announced the arrival of goalkeeper Masatoshi Kushibiki on a one-year loan from Shimizu S-Pulse.

The 22-year-old, who made 10 appearances in the 2015 MEIJI YASUDA J1 League during S-Pulse’s ill-fated campaign, was recently selected for Japan’s AFC Under-23 Championship squad.

“It’s an honour to play as a member of Kashima Antlers and I’m incredibly excited,” Kushibiki said.

After enduring an early slump last term, Japan’s most successful outfit went on to enjoy a second stage revival under Masatada Ishii, and will be eager to stage a title challenge in 2016.
