Mitchell Langerak was in goal for four MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE contests in September and he allowed a grand total of two goals. The Aussie was his typical excellent self in turning away opponents and he even set a league record for most clean sheets in the first 28 matches of a season. All in all, it was a spectacular month for the Nagoya Grampus backstop and he now has a cherry on top after being named Konami Monthly MVP for September.
The record-breaking Langerak now headings into the stretch run of the season with an AFC Champions League quarter-final (and perhaps beyond) to prepare for and a fight for third place in the table.
The Konami Monthly MVP in J2 went to V-Varen Nagasaki’s Edigar Junio. In five matches, the Brazilian scored seven goals and added an assist. His exploits helped lead his club to an undefeated month, making for a marvelous individual and team stretch for Edigar Junio.
In J3, MVP honors were awarded to Tegevajaro Miyazaki’s Kaito Umeda. The forward closed out the month especially strong, scoring match-winning goals in each of Tegevajaro Miyazaki’s last two matches to wrap up an undefeated month for the club.
