Gamba Osaka had a perfect June, running off three wins from three matches with a fantastic turn of form and Dani Poyatos has been awarded Manager of the Month for orchestrating that outstanding run.
Gamba were bottom of the league, but a perfect June took them well up the table. They out-scored their opponents 7-3 in the month as six different goal scorers helped lead a total team rise through the month.
Poyatos’ Gamba tenure got off to a slow start, but the team has clearly found its footing in the Spaniard’s system and now they are one of the best sides in the league.
Top manager honors in J2 went to Akinobu Yokouchi, who guided Júbilo Iwata from the midtable to the promotion play-off places with a terrific June. Júbilo took 10 of a possible 12 points in the month and out-scored opponents 8-3.
Manager of the Month in J3 was awarded to Yusako Ueno, whose FC Gifu side climbed into the top five with three wins and a draw from four June matches.
