Lee gets J1 MVP honours for April

Urawa Reds striker Tadanari Lee has been named the 2016 MEIJI YASUDA J1 League Monthly MVP for April 2016.

The former Samurai Blue star played 90 minutes in all five of his team’s April matches, recording two goals and two assists including a memorable jumping volley in their Round 9 victory against Nagoya Grampus.

“It’s an incredible honour to be named April’s MVP,” Lee said. “It’s taken a lot of time to recover from my injury four years ago, but I think this is proof that I’m back at 100 percent.

“Urawa Reds are continuing to mature and play our style of football, which I hope our fans and supporters can enjoy.”

The Reds, who are currently in second place behind league leaders Kawasaki Frontale, will host FC Seoul on Wednesday in the AFC Champions League Round of 16.
