Ken Iwao’s spectacular goal from half-field has earned the Urawa Reds man Konami Goal of the Month for July.
Urawa were stuck in a 1-1 game against Sagan Tosu in Matchweek 19 when a foul at midfield earned the Reds a free kick. While everyone else was walking away and resetting, an ever-aware Iwao spotted the Sagan goalkeeper off his line and his an absolutely perfect ball from the half-way line that found the back of the net.
Not only was that a goal to remember for Iwao, but it was also the match winner as Urawa won, 2-1.
In J2, Konami Goal of the Month went to Shimizu S-Pulse’s Takashi Inui. He carried the ball from his own half of the field before ripping a shot from 20 yards that proved to be the winning goal in S-Pulse’s victory over Oita Trinita.
The best goal in J3 was awarded to FC Osaka’s Takahiro Kitsui for his stoppage time winner in Matchweek 16.
