Kawasaki Frontale’s season has been a series of starts and stops, and they hope to start on a run into the top half on Saturday at 7 pm JST when they host Yokohama FC in a match that will be streamed live on the J.League International YouTube channel.
Frontale looked to have finally found their footing in recent weeks, going three straight unbeaten with back-to-back impressive results against Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Urawa Reds punctuating a good run of form, but a loss to Nagoya Grampus over the weekend knocked them back down.
Frontale had a chance to leap into the top half of the table with a win against Nagoya and, while that did not come to pass, they have that opportunity again this week. They will have to be more composed at the back, having made some costly mistakes against Grampus, but they did dominate the ball and create tons of chances at goal so there is something to build on against Yokohama.
Things have been difficult for the Fulie this season and they’re currently in a five-match winless streak, just two points clear of the bottom. Making matters tougher is Koki Ogawa just left the club to join NEC Nijmegen in Netherlands, but their hopes of staying in the top flight is still alive and the collective of forwards will be counted upon to get the job done in Ogawa’s absence.
The J.League announced that up to four matches will be streamed live each week for the 2023 season, bringing one of Asia’s top league’s to fans around the world. The streams will be free to view on the J.League International YouTube channel in any country that does not have an existing rights agreement.
