J.League Match Preview: F·Marinos try to keep up momentum against Consadole

Yokohama F·Marinos had a smashing Saturday, defeating English Premier League side Newcastle United in a friendly. That came on the heels of consecutive wins in Meiji Yasuda J1 League play, giving them tons of momentum that they hope will see them push past Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo on Wednesday at 19:30 JST in a match that will be live on JLeague.co and broadcasters around the world.

F·Marino’s two wins before beating Newcastle were especially impressive because they took down a pair of title contenders in first place FC Machida Zelvia and third place Kashima Antlers. While Anderson Lopes played his typical starring role, he was given plenty of help as five others scored in those two matches, showcasing the depth of the Tricolor attack.

This success comes just as John Hutchinson takes the reins as manager from Harry Kewell — a move that has seemed to change things entirely in Yokohama.

Though there's been no similar change in Sapporo, Consadole have also got to feel good as of late, with a win and draw in their last two contests and plenty of rest since their last match. Though they are still bottom of the table and a 10-point climb from safety, a victory in Yokohama would go a long way to helping this team push to escape the drop.

Will Consadole stun F·Marinos? Or will the Tricolor keep their momentum going with another win?
