Go Kuroda’s first month in the first division has been nothing short of remarkable as he led FC Machida Zelvia straight to the top of the table. Now, he’s been recognized for the marvelous job he’s done by being named Manager of the Month for February and March.
Kuroda was a high school coaching legend before taking over Zelvia in 2023 and immediately led the club to their first-ever promotion to the top flight.
Zelvia have not slowed down despite now taking on the best teams in Japan. Kuroda's men drew their opener before rattling off four straight wins to end March undefeated and in first place, with eight goals scored and just three against.
Manager of the Month for J2 went to Takashi Kiyama, who led Fagiano Okayama to an undefeated seven matches in February and March that had them top of the table. The Fagiano defense was especially outstanding, as Kiyama organized a squad that outscored opponents 9-2 to start the campaign.
Top manager in J3 was awarded to FC Gifu’s Yusaku Ueno. The long-time J.League player did a sparkling job in Gifu’s first month, winning five and drawing one in their first seven contests to put themselves top of the third division.
