J.League officials late last month delivered fan-donated football jerseys and kits to children in Sri Lanka’s civil war-affected Jaffna region.
The 540 uniforms contributed by J.League supporters, which were distributed at seven local schools, well exceeded the project’s goal of collecting 300 shirts.
Roughly 250 children were also invited to play football in a local stadium which was rented out for two days.
The trip was conducted in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency as part of the Sports for Tomorrow initiative.
