J1 League Matchweek 14 Recap: Goals, thrills, and J.League Day celebrations

J.League Day gave us a terrific slate of matches, but no changes at the top of the table as all of the teams in the title fight picked up wins. Let’s check in on their victories and all the other action from Matchweek 14.

Vissel Kobe 1, Avispa Fukuoka 0

Taisei Miyashiro finished a beautiful volley to score for the third match in a row as Vissel picked up a win to remain in first place.

FC Machida Zelvia 2, Cerezo Osaka 1

Léo Ceará stayed hot with another goal for Cerezo to bring the match level in the 84th minute, but Mitchell Duke scored a stoppage-time winner to keep Zelvia level on points with table-toppers Vissel.

Sanfrecce Hiroshima 1, Kashima Antlers 3

Yuma Suzuki scored his fourth goal in as many matches and Aleksandar Čavrić found the back of the net for the third time in that span as the Antlers defeated Sanfrecce to keep pace with the top of the pack.

Urawa Reds 3, Kyoto Sanga 0

Urawa were dominant as three different goal scorers delivered the Reds their third straight win to remain just six points off the top.

Nagoya Grampus 3, FC Tokyo 1

Kasper Junker’s first start since his return from injury was a smashing success as he scored a hat trick to deliver Nagoya an emphatic three points against FC Tokyo.

Tokyo Verdy 0, Gamba Osaka 0

Verdy had the upper hand, but couldn’t turn it into a goal, ultimately splitting the points with Gamba in Tokyo.

Kashiwa Reysol 2, Shonan Bellmare 1

Kosuke Kinoshita scored in the 77th minute to bring Reysol even, then Mao Hosoya found the back of the net in stoppage time to win it for the home side.

Sagan Tosu 5, Kawasaki Frontale 2

Sagan were five-star entertainment as Tosu dominated Frontale to climb out of the relegation zone.

Albirex Niigata 3, Yokohama F·Marinos 1

Albirex had to come from behind but did it in style, picking up a big win against the AFC Champions League finalists from Yokohama.

Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo 1, Júbilo iwata 0

Consadole played well and Yuya Asano delivered the goal they needed to pick up the three points in Sapporo and climb off the bottom of the table.
