MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE leaders Kashima Antlers set a new unbeaten home record in Match Week 6 of the 2025 MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE, while FC Machida Zelvia, Sanfrecce Hiroshima, and Kashiwa Reysol all kept themselves within range at the top of the table, and Vissel Kobe and Yokohama F・Marinos both claimed their first victories of the season.
Taishi Matsumoto gave Urawa Reds the lead in first-half stoppage time against Kashima but Kei Chinen equalised in the 90th minute to secure a 1-1 draw. The last time Kashima lost at home was on September 24, 2023, in a 2-1 defeat to Yokohama F・Marinos, and they have now extended their unbeaten run at Kashima Soccer Stadium to 26 matches.
Machida are just one point behind Kashima after winning for the third game in a row. Takuma Nishimura headed home the only goal in the 25th minute to secure a 1-0 triumph over winless Albirex Niigata.
Fellow strong starters Hiroshima and Kashiwa had to make do with a point apiece from their contest, which ended 1-1. Shunki Higashi gave Hiroshima the lead in the 72nd minute, but Kashiwa’s Mao Hosoya struck back with four minutes remaining to ensure the spoils were shared.
Meanwhile, two-time defending champions Kobe picked up all three points for the first time this season thanks to a 2-1 win away to previously unbeaten Shonan Bellmare. New signing Erik scored both goals for Kobe in the 24th and 37th minutes, while Lukian struck Shonan’s reply six minutes after the restart.

Yokohama F・M celebrated a first victory this weekend as well, Daiya Tono putting them ahead in the 20th minute and Asahi Uenaka adding a second with 15 minutes to go as they beat Gamba Osaka 2-0.
Neighbours Yokohama FC also won by that scoreline, picking up their first victory in four games. Kota Yamada opened the scoring against Cerezo Osaka in the 27th minute before Towa Yamane found the net in the 53rd. C-Osaka now haven’t won since the opening day of the season.
There was late drama in Kyushu, as Avispa Fukuoka struck deep into injury time to beat FC TOKYO 1-0. Tomoya Ando was the hero for Fukuoka, heading home in the 95th-minute to leave the visitors winless and goalless in their last three games.
Elsewhere, goals from Hiroto Yamami and Yuto Tsunashima saw Tokyo Verdy come from behind to beat Nagoya Grampus 2-1. Nagoya had taken the lead in the 21st minute through Tsukasa Morishima, but they remain winless and bottom of the table.
The weekend’s other games saw Kyoto Sanga F.C. beat Shimizu S-Pulse 2-1 - Rafael Elias and Joao Pedro finding the net for Kyoto and Koya Kitagawa replying late on for Shimizu - while Fagiano Okayama and Kawasaki Frontale draw 0-0.
