Striker Shingo Akamine faces an uncertain amount of time on the sidelines to recover from an injury to his right hamstring, his club Gamba Osaka revealed on Wednesday.
The former FC Tokyo and Vegalta Sendai striker suffered the injury on July 11 during his team’s 2-1 MEIJI YASUDA J1 League win over Ventforet Kofu.
Gamba have not issued a recovery timeline for Akamine, who has featured in eight league matches for the Japanese champions so far this season.
The 31-year-old arrived at Expo '70 Commemorative Stadium in January.
