Kawasaki Frontale are back on track to win their second consecutive MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE title after a sensational September and that run of form earned Toru Oniki Manager of the Month honors.
Frontale won all four of their September contests, outscoring their opponents 8-3. They won a pair of matches in stoppage time, showing off the determination and calm under pressure that Oniki has instilled in the squad. Most importantly, Frontale took a lead atop the table that had been cut to one point and extended it to double digits as they chase yet another league crown.
In J2, V-Varen Nagasaki’s Hiroshi Matsuda earned Manager of the Month honors. VVN went undefeated in September, winning three and drawing two as Matsuda orchestrated a deadly attack that scored 14 goals in five contests.
Roasso Kumamoto’s Takeshi Oki won top manager in J3 after his club won all three of their matches in September and did not concede a single goal.
