Sagan Tosu on Tuesday announced the signing of former Spain international Fernando Torres, who will wear the No. 9 shirt for the Kyushu side.
Torres launched his professional career in 2000 at Atletico Madrid, joining Liverpool in 2007. After playing for Chelsea and AC Milan, he re-joined Atletico in the summer of 2015.
A multitalented striker with both speed and finishing, he’s known for his superb play both off the post and in the air.
After scoring 24 goals in his debut season with Liverpool, he placed third in the 2008 Ballon D’Or behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
In 2008 he was a key member of Spain’s squad at the UEFA Euro 2008, scoring the game-winning goal against Germany in the final and leading his nation to the title.
