FC Machida Zelvia are the 2023 Meiji Yasuda J2 League champions!

The dream season for Zelvia now has the silverware that the club so richly deserves after a phenomenal campaign. They jumped out to an early lead in the second division, continued their excellent play through the summer and last week clinched their first-ever promotion to the top flight. Now, they are J2 champions too, making it a perfect season at Machida GION Stadium.

Zelvia clinched the title with a 1-0 win over Zweigen Kanazawa, putting them an astounding 11 points clear at the top of the table with two matches to play.

Erik has led the way for Zelvia this season. The Brazilian has scored 18 goals, second-most in J2, and he has six assists too. With him leading the best attack in J2, and the defense conceding the second-fewest goals in the league, Zelvia had themselves a terrific team that absolutely earned the title.

This marks Zelvia’s first ever national trophy. Their only previous silverware came in the regional leagues, but now they have a second division championship to cap off a season to remember in Machida and take with them as they make the leap to the top flight for 2024.
