Consadole Sapporo announced on Sunday that defender Jun Sonoda will receive treatment for an injury to the medial collateral ligament (MCL).

The 26-year-old picked up the knock in his right knee during a team training session on 20th March, though the length of time he will be ruled out for is unknown.

Sonoda is in his second year with Consadole after joining them from Kawasaki Frontale in 2014.

The ex-Machida Zelvia loanee was also once called up to the Japan Under-23 side in 2011, but failed to make a single appearance for his country.
