FC Tokyo announced defender Michele Canini had returned to Japan on Friday after spending two weeks in Italy to attend to personal matters.

The centre-back rejoined his team-mates, minus internationals, at the club’s training facility to prepare for their clash at Sagan Tosu next Saturday.

Canini, who joined Tokyo on loan from Atalanta in 2014, has made seven appearances this season under coach and compatriot Massimo Ficcadenti.

The 30-year-old’s future at Ajinomoto Stadium is uncertain however, given he is due back at his parent club at the end of his loan stint this July.
