Bayern Munich and Kawasaki Frontale put on a show for the massive crowd at the Japan National Stadium who came out to see Germany’s preeminent club take on the side that has dominated the Meiji Yasuda J1 League in recent years.

In the end, it was the German giants who prevailed, riding the goal by Josip Stanišíć to a 1-0 win in the friendly.

Both sides came out with energy as Bayern continued their preseason preparations, while Frontale put themselves to the test against one of the world’s biggest clubs.

Frontale had youngsters like Kota Takai and Taisei Miyashiro getting massive challenges against a team like Bayern and they responded admirably, looking comfortable on the big stage. It bodes well for the future of the club that two of their brightest young players showed themselves capable against quality like Bayern’s.

Bayern’s breakthrough came in the 57th minute when Stanišíć picked the ball up in midfield, drove at the Frontale defense and played a beautiful one-two with Ryan Gravenberch before finishing for the lone goal of the match.

Both sides had chances to score multiple goals, but in the end it was only Stanišíć who scored to provide the difference in a fun night at the National Stadium for everyone involved.
