Antlers lose out on Suruga Bank Championship

Kashima Antlers’ continued their slump, as they lost 1-0 to Colombian side Santa Fe in the 2016 Suruga Bank Championship on Wednesday.

The MEIJI YASUDA J1 League First Stage winners dominated in terms of shooting opportunities and corners, but fell to Humberto Osorio’s winner in the 79th minute.

Antlers had a golden opportunity to equalise from the spot in the 90th minute, but Mu Kanazaki was unable to convert his penalty attempt.

Santa Fe’s Yeison Gordillo was sent off in stoppage time by Chinese referee Ma Ning, but 2012 and 2013 Championship winners Antlers were unable to capitalise.
