A new year message from J.LEAGUE Chairman Mitsuru Murai

A new year message from J.LEAGUE Chairman Mitsuru Murai

I would like to begin by wishing a happy New Year to everyone in the J.League family.

2018 is a World Cup year, but ahead of that will be the February 24 kickoff of the MEIJI YASUDA J.League. Last season, new champions were born in a dramatic final day of action. I look forward to seeing what excitement the new season brings.

May 15 will mark the 25th anniversary of the first J.League match. From 10 clubs in 1993, the J.League has expanded to 54 clubs in 38 prefectures. But even despite that progress, our philosophy toward raising a healthy sports culture throughout Japan remains unchanged. Together with our member clubs, we continue to strive toward our goal of improving the image of the J.League both on and off the pitch.

Thank you for your support at stadiums across Japan in the coming year.
