J.League Match Preview: Sagan aim to stay clear of drop against Sanfrecce

Sagan Tosu have spent 13 consecutive seasons in the Meiji Yasuda J1 League and their fight to make it 14 will continue against Sanfrecce Hiroshima on Sunday at 19:00 JST, live on JLeague.co and broadcasters around the world.

Tosu are in the thick of the relegation fight and are currently just outside of the drop zone. They lead 18th-place Shonan Bellmare and 19th-place Kyoto Sanga by a mere one point, with every match massive from here on out.

Marcelo Ryan has been crucial to their ability to stay clear of the drop zone with 10 goals to his name, good for fifth in the league and one-third of the team’s goals this season.

Visitors Sanfrecce have their own 10-goal scorer in Yuki Ohashi, the winter signing who got the Viola off to a quick start to the season. He’s also picked up four assists, making him one of the most well-rounded attackers in the league.

Ohashi’s excellence has lifted Hiroshima all the way to fifth in the league and they’re looking to kick on after a good win over Avispa Fukuoka last week.

Will Ohashi and the Three Arrows keep their good form going and move closer to the Asian qualification places? Or will Sagan pick up crucial points at home in their fight for survival?

Found out live on Sunday’s global broadcast!
