Sanfrecce Hiroshima are top of the Meiji Yasuda J1 League table, but their advantage is only one point heading into the final four matches of the season. That sets the table for a memorable run-in, which begins on Sunday at 13:00 JST when the Viola take on Kyoto Sanga live on JLeague.co and broadcasters around the world.
Sanfrecce and Vissel Kobe are locked in an epic title race, with one point separating the two teams. They’d been in terrific form before both teams lost last time out, keeping the race tight.
Most surprising about the Viola’s loss in their last match is that they scored only one goal. They are the league’s highest scoring team and hadn’t scored fewer than two goals in a contest since August 7, so it was a shocking way for Sanfrecce to lose, but there’s also every reason to believe they will be back to their fearsome attacking selves against Sanga.
While Sanga are not in the title race, they could still use some points down the stretch. Only six points separate them from the relegation zone so a couple results in the last four weeks could ensure them another season in the top flight.
Will Sanga pull the upset? Or wil Sanfrecce pour in some goals to remain on top of the table?
