Urawa finished 14th last season, but they defeated Shonan 3-2 in the opening match of 2020.  By switching their defensive line from three to four, their aggressiveness increased and there already came three goals. Reds were troubled by a lack of scoring ability in 2019, so they organized for a more aggressive style this season. The focus is on new member Leonardo. Last season's J2 top scorer also netted a goal in the opening match, proving already that he can do well in J1. Has Shinzo Kouroki finally found his perfect attacking partner?  
 
Meanwhile, defending champion Yokohama F.Marinos, lost to Gamba Osaka in this season’s opening match. They struggled against Gamba's quick, reactive football, as they were attacked when using a high defensive line and their passes were intercepted during the build-up. Since Urawa are expected to play with a style similar to Gamba, F.Marinos will have to do be more attentive, and at the same time, better attacking quality will be required.
