Shigetoshi Hasebe has been awarded Manager of the Month honors for June after leading Avispa Fukuoka through five matches undefeated.
Fukuoka had four wins and a draw in June as Hasebe organized a nearly impenetrable defense. They conceded just one goal in their five contests, leading from the back as they moved all the way up to sixth in the table.
Hasebe has been marvelous since taking over Avispa in 2020. He won promotion to J1 in his first season and set a club record with an eighth place finish in his first top flight campaign.
Last season he bettered that mark, finishing seventh and winning Fukuoka’s first-ever major trophy when they captured the J.League YBC Levain Cup. Hasebe won Manager of the Month twice in 2023 for his excellent work.
Now, he has Fukuoka in the fight to once again set a new mark for best finish in club history thanks to their outstanding June.
In J2, Yokohama FC were faultless, earning Shuhei Yomoda Manager of the Month. The Fulie won all five of their June matches, outscoring their opponents by an astonishing 15-2 mark.
Yokohama finished the month in second place as Yomoda has the club in good position to earn promotion back to J1.
Top manager honors in the third division went to Giravanz Kitakyushu’s Kohei Masumoto. He guided his team to an undefeated June with three wins and two draws.
