J.League Top Scorer Watch: Léo Ceará, Anderson Lopes strike again at summit

Léo Ceará is still top of the Meiji Yasuda J1 League scoring chart after scoring yet again, but he has a new man on his heels in Anderson Lopes after the Yokohama F·Marinos striker scored twice last week.

Léo Ceará headed home from a corner kick to earn Cerezo Osaka a 1-1 draw in Matchweek 19, taking him to 14 goals on the season.

Anderson Lopes had two chances last week, with a rescheduled game midweek before the Tricolor’s Matchweek 19 contest, and he delivered in both.

First, the Brazilian scored the winning goal as the Tricolor beat Sanfrecce Hiroshima, 3-2. Then, he converted a penalty kick as F·Marinos took down Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo, 1-0, taking him up to 12 goals on the season.

Ryo Germain is in third place on 11 goals after failing to score over the weekend. He now has Yuma Suzuki at his back after the Kashima Antlers star scored his ninth and 10th goals of the season in a 2-2 draw with Urawa Reds.

Marcelo Ryan scored two goals himself, leading Sagan Tosu out of the relegation zone in a 3-0 victory that has him up to nine goals on the campaign. He is tied with Tokyo Verdy’s Yudai Kimura for fifth place on the scoring chart.
