J.League Match Preview: Léo Ceara and Cerezo square off against Sanga

Cerezo Osaka have been one of the league’s most exciting teams this season thanks to J1’s top scorer Léo Ceará and on Saturday at 19:00 JST they take those thrills to Kyoto for a clash with Sanga that will be shown live on JLeague.co and broadcasters around the world.

Léo Ceará has been so good this season that being held goalless for a single game, as he was last week, is shocking. The Brazilian still has 10 goals in his last 11 matches, though, and 12 on the season to lead J1.

With the Brazilian up front, the Sakura are capable of beating anyone in the league and a month ago they were in the thick of the title race. Unfortunately, a six-match winless streak saw them slip, but Cerezo did snap that skid two weeks ago and they are now primed to make another run up the table.

Sanga desperately need to climb the table themselves. They’ve won just twice all season and find themselves in last place, four points from safety.

The defense has been a serious problem, with Kyoto conceding at least three goals in four of their last four contests. Their attack hasn’t been much better, ranking last in the league. Despite their struggles, it could only take two wins to get out of the bottom three and a match at home on Saturday would be a terrific time to pick up one of them.

Will Sanga take three valuable points in their bid for survival? Or will Léo Ceará shine bright in Cerezo’s push up the table?

Tune in on Saturday and find out!
