Vissel Kobe are on the brink of history, with their second consecutive Meiji Yasuda J1 League title within their reach when they take on Kashiwa Reysol on Saturday at 2 pm JST live on JLeague.co and broadcasters around the world.

Vissel are three points clear of Sanfrecce Hiroshima, giving them a chance to clinch the title this weekend. If Vissel win and the Viola drop points, or Vissel draw and Sanfrecce lose, the trophy will be heading to Kobe for the second consecutive season.

The reigning champions have come on strong down the stretch, thrusting themselves to the top of the table with just one loss since August 7. They combine J1’s second-best attack with the third-best defense, excelling on both ends to dismantle opponents week in and week out.

While Taisei Miyashiro hit the ground running after signing with Vissel in the winter to carry the attack through the early parts of the season, it’s been last year’s superstars Yuya Osako and Yoshinori Muto who have led the way in the second half of the campaign.

Osako and Muto are both up to 11 goals on the year, with Osako throwing in eight assists and Muto seven. They are once again the two-man powerhouse that won Vissel the first tile in club history last season and now they are on the verge of delivering another.

Reysol are not simply bystanders in this contest, though. They are in 17th place and in need of a win to guarantee themselves safety so they will be in full stride hoping to take down Vissel in this one.
