FC Machida Zelvia are off to a stellar start in their first-ever Meiji Yasuda J1 League campaign, now top of the table after an undefeated start.

Goals by Shota Fujio and Ibrahim Drešević led Zelvia to their third straight win and put them on 10 points, two points clear at the top.

It was a cagey battle of title contenders in Kobe, where neither team could find a way through, but Sanfrecce were happy to head home with second place and their undefeated mark intact.

Vitor Bueno’s first Cerezo goal was a blinder and Masaya Shibayama found the back of the net before being shown a red card as the 10-man Sakura went to third place in Tosu.

Kashima Antlers 2, Kawasaki Frontale 1

Aleksandar Čavrić and Yuma Suzuki scored three minutes apart as Antlers beat Frontale in the league for the first time since 2016.

Gamba Osaka 2, Júbilo Iwata 1

Ryo Germain scored his league-leading fifth goal of the season, but it wasn’t enough as Gamba goals by Takashi Usami and Dawhan lifted the hosts to victory and continued their unbeaten start.

Tokyo Verdy 2, Albirex Niigata 2

Finally, a late goal Tokyo Verdy fans will be happy to see. Fuki Yamada’s free-kick goal was magnificent for Verdy, then Kaito Taniguchi and Motoki Nagakura hit back with goals of their own for Albirex, only to see Hijiri Onaga score in the 90th minute to split the points in the capital.

Kashiwa Reysol 0, Nagoya Grampus 2

Kensuke Nagai put Nagoya in front before Ha Chang-rae scored his first J1 goal to give Grampus their first points of the season in a much-needed win.

Kyoto Sanga 2, Yokohama F·Marinos 3

Anderson Lopes was the star of the show as he set up Kota Mizunuma’s opener before scoring two goals himself in a wild 3-2 win that saw Sanga play 82 minutes with 10 men and Marinos finish with 10 themselves.

Avispa Fukuoka 1, FC Tokyo 3

Ryotaro Araki scored his fourth goal of the season as FC Tokyo dominated in Fukuoka to pick up their first win of the campaign.

Shonan Bellmare 4, Urawa Reds 4

Hiratsuka was treated to an eight-goal thriller that included a pair of tallies for Bellmare's #NextGenJLEAGUE star Akito Suzuki and a late equalizer from Urawa's Samuel Gustafson.
