Albirex Niigata’s Shunsuke Mito has earned Konami Goal of the Month for May as a reward for his magnificent goal to beat Yokohama F·Marinos in Matchweek 13.

Newly promoted Albi were level with the defending champions, 1-1, in the 67th minute when Mito carried the ball into space and hit an absolute rocket from 25 yards that left the goalkeeper no chance and ripped the top corner of the netting.

Mito’s goal would hold up and earn Niigata a vital three points. The team had gone from playing in the second division a year ago to not only beating mighty Marinos, but toppling the champions with a goal better than anyone in the top flight had all month.

Konami Goal of the Month in J2 went to V-Varen Nagasaki’s Shunya Yoneda for his first goal in Matchweek 18, which helped his team to a 2-1 win.

The top goal in J3 went to SC Sagamihara’s Rio Yoshitake for his unforgettable finish in Matchweek 9.
