Thiago Santana’s spectacular half-field strike was an audacious and memorable tally, and it has been recognized as J1 Goal of the Month for April.
The Brazilian picked up a ball 30 yards from his own goal, shielded a defender and turned up field. He dribbled on his own, skipping away from a tackle before reaching the half-way line, where he spotted the FC Tokyo goalkeeper off his line. That’s when he hit his marvelous strike.
Thiago Santana’s goal was not enough to deliver Urawa Reds a result, but he provided everyone at Ajinomoto Stadium a moment they will never forget.
Kento Hashimoto took home Goal of the Month in J2 for his tremendous strike from 30 yards. The Tokushima Vortis man hit a howitzer from distance that nestled just inside the post for a tremendous goal.
The top goal in J3 went to Genta Ito, the FC Imabari goalkeeper who came up on a stoppage time corner kick and headed home an equalizer to steal a point for his club.
